About the Author

My name is Dayna Pennock, mother of four and a self-taught author/illustrator/self-publisher.

I've been drawing and writing since I was little. My mother worked at a bookstore then a library when I was young, I'd visit her workplace often. Books have been a huge part of my life. I studied graphic design in college and love to create it a digital space. I worked at a newspaper before taking time to be a stay-at-home mother. I returned to work as support staff at my kids' school. While volunteering and working with the kids, I was nicknamed the "Craft Lady" and I LOVED IT!

"Songbird Stories" were originally talked about during times of stress as a way to distract from or explain difficult situations... See INSPIRATION tab for more details. We found observing animals' curious behaviours inspired conversations not as easily talked about as with human interactions, morals and values. 2020-21 provided time to sit down and learn how to format drawings and words into a rhyming children's picture book mini-series, Songbird Stories.
